Punch Art Turtle

It will be Mia’s 8th birthday next week and she is a collector of cute turtles …

So I knew exactly what card I had to make for her.

This is what I used to make the turtle –   In garden green card 1-3/8” circle (the body) & 3/4” circle (the head), 2 x word window (feet) & candle stem from the cupcake builder punch (for the tail).

In lucky limeade card 1-1/4” circle (the shell)

In so saffron card (that has been put through the big shot using the perfect polka dots embossing folder)  7 x circles (out of the itty bitty shapes punch pack)

The eyes are from the owl punch.

I stamped the Happy Birthday in lucky limeade, dimensionals to raise the turtle and with the lucky limeade write marker drew a wiggly border.

Guitar Instructions

A lovely lady Michelle from Arizona contacted me regarding my sons 18th birthday card …

In her email she made some very kind compliments and said how she had been inspired by the card and requested details of how I had made it. So I hope the following is of some help to anyone who would like to give it a go …

The main card is A4 basic black card, folded in half.

The black card that the guitar is mounted on is 0.5cm smaller than the brushed silver card, which measures 13cm x 11cm.

I hand drew the body of the guitar (crumb cake card and sponged with in soft suede), scratch plate (which is a tear shape in black card) and bridge (chocolate chip card) that houses the saddle pins, which are mini silver brads.

The fret board is in chocolate chip & measured 3cm long x 2.3cm wide. I used silver thread to make the frets & the guitar strings.
The sound hole is 3 circle punches 1-3/4″ & 1-1/4″ in black and 1-3/8″ in crumb cake.
I used the timeless type alphabet for the name and numbers.

Here’s the card I made for Ben …

This time I used white A4 card, folded in half and added an additional black layer measuring 14.5cm long x 12.5cm wide, for the brushed silver layer to be mounted on

Supplies from Stampin’ Up!

Card stock: smooth basic black, crumb cake, soft suede & brushed silver; Dies: timeless type alphabet set; Inks: soft suede; Punches: 1-3/4”, 1-3/8” & 1-1/4” circle; Accessories: mini silver brads, snail adhesive, multipurpose liquid glue & dimensionals.

I hope you like them and that the instructions help a little, have fun.

Embossed Wedding

It’s time to celebrate yet another wedding, this time using embossing …

I run 3 different embossing folders through the Big Shot, with whisper white card. Then punched them out using the 1-1/4″ square punch and layered with brushed silver using the 1-3/8″ square punch. I placed them onto wisteria wonder card and cut out, leaving a small edge. The centre square has the ‘to the new mr & mrs’ sentiment and is raised using dimensionals. I added a small item to each corner … paper rose, heart, vellum butterfly & button and raised them too.

The base of the card is layered with whisper white, brushed silver and wisteria wonder card using the eyelet border punch and finished off with a knotted organza ribbon.

Supplies from Stampin’ Up!

Card stock: smooth basic whisper white, wisteria wonder, brushed silver & white vellum; Stamps: petite pairs; Inks: basic gray; Punches: heart to heart, eyelet border, 1-3/8” & 1-1/4” squares; Dies: beautiful wings; Accessories: embossing folders, snail adhesive, multipurpose liquid glue, rhinestones, big shot, button, organza ribbon & dimensionals.

Stampin’ Up! Treatment

I was asked by the Mum of the groom to make a wedding card, by using a spare wedding invitation …

I tried very hard to give it the ‘Stampin’ Up!’ treatment.

I had to colour white grosgrain ribbon with the concord crush marker, (this is a great technique to use when you need a matching ribbon) then punched out hearts in concord crush, brushed silver and from the invite patterned card. I also used concord crush & brushed silver card to layer up the couples names, which was taken from the invite.

I used dimesionals for the names and for some of the hearts and finished off with a few rhinestones.

This was a great challenge and it made me think ‘out of the box’ as they say.

Card stock: whisper white, concord crush & brushed silver; Punches: heart to heart; Accessories: white grosgrain ribbon, concord crush marker, rhinestones, snail adhesive, multipurpose liquid glue & dimensionals.

One Cupcake or Two

You can never have enough cupcakes and here are two …

I started by cutting a strip of whisper white card and stamping 2 of the sentiments from the create a cupcake stamp set and edged using the eyelet border punch, the top in bashful blue and the bottom in rose red. The first cupcake with the cherry, is adhered using multipurpose liquid glue and the other is raised using dimensionals and with a rhinestone placed on the heart.

To finish off I placed a piece of organza ribbon tied in a knot.
